Your phone disappears.
It is not just a phone.
It may contain your SIM card, mobile money access, banking apps, email, WhatsApp, saved passwords and account recovery information.
That is why speed matters.
If your phone is stolen, act immediately.
First, use another phone to contact your Telco through an official channel and ask about blocking the SIM or securing the number.
Then contact your bank, mobile money provider and other important financial services to report the theft and protect your accounts.
Next, use a trusted device to secure your most important accounts. Start with your primary email because it may be used to reset passwords for other services.
Review your account security settings and remove the stolen device from trusted or logged in devices where the service allows it.
If your phone has tracking or remote security features, use them only when it is safe to do so.
Never confront someone you suspect of stealing your phone.
The first few minutes after a theft can matter.
Think first. Click safe.
A stolen phone does not automatically mean stolen money. Quick action can reduce the risk
