Your phone rings.
“I sent money to your number by mistake. Please send it back immediately.”
The caller sounds desperate.
Maybe they are angry.
Maybe they say they need the money urgently.
Don’t let their urgency become your emergency.
First check your actual mobile money or bank transaction history.
Did the money arrive?
If it did not, do not send anything.
If money was genuinely received and the sender says it was a mistake, contact your provider through its official customer care channel and ask how the transaction should be handled.
Do not share your PIN, one time code, account balance or other confidential information with the caller.
And never return money to a different number simply because someone tells you to.
A genuine mistaken transaction can be verified.
A legitimate correction can be handled through the provider’s process.
You do not need to act blindly because someone is putting pressure on you.
Think first. Click safe.
When someone says “Send it now!”, your response should be:
“Let me verify first.”
