You know not to share your PIN.
But what about a photograph of your bank card?
Think before you send it.
A card contains information that can be useful to someone attempting fraudulent transactions. Depending on the card and payment system, details on the card may include the card number, expiry date and security code.
That is why you should never casually photograph or share both sides of your payment card.
Do not send card photographs through WhatsApp, social media or email because someone claims to be from your bank, a delivery company or customer support.
At an ATM or payment terminal, shield your PIN from people nearby and never allow a stranger to “help” you enter it.
Turn on transaction alerts so you can notice unusual activity quickly.
If your card is lost, stolen or its details may have been exposed, contact your bank through an official channel immediately.
Think first. Click safe.
Your card is more than a piece of plastic. Treat the information printed on it as confidential.
